The fastest answer usually starts with four details.
When contacting Campora, share how many people you are sheltering, the type of ground you expect, the weather conditions you are planning for, and whether you need sleeping coverage, shade coverage, vehicle-side shelter, or accessory support.
- Camping tent, canopy, rooftop tent, or SUV tailgate setup
- Expected rain, wind, sun, or damp ground conditions
- Camp size, gear load, and protected floor area
- Accessory needs such as poles, frames, stakes, or ground sheets
Choosing the right shelter system
A camping tent is designed for sleeping coverage, privacy, and a more enclosed shelter zone. A canopy tent is better for shade, cooking areas, group seating, gear staging, and open-air rain or sun protection. Many Campora setups use both: a tent for rest and a canopy for the shared camp area.
Use a footprint or ground sheet when the ground is damp, gritty, rocky, or high-traffic. It helps create a cleaner underside layer, reduces abrasion, and keeps entry areas more organized. For rain, keep the ground layer tucked under the tent edge so it does not collect runoff.
Rooftop tents and SUV tailgate tents are useful when you want the vehicle to become part of the shelter layout. A rooftop tent can separate sleeping space from uneven ground, while an SUV tailgate tent can expand covered access near storage, changing, or gear staging areas.

Pitching, tension, rain, wind, and shade
- Choose ground that is slightly elevated and free from sharp debris.
- Look for natural runoff paths before placing the tent floor.
- Face doors away from direct wind when possible.
- Confirm poles, stakes, guylines, and ground protection are ready before unpacking everything.
Keep the canopy fabric evenly tensioned and create a slight runoff angle so water exits away from doors, tables, and stored gear. After rain begins, recheck edge tension because fabric and frame points can settle under moisture and movement.
Keep ventilation open when conditions allow. Airflow helps manage interior moisture and keeps the shelter more comfortable. Avoid pressing gear against tent walls, because contact points can reduce airflow and make moisture more noticeable inside the shelter.
Use all recommended anchor points, keep guyline tension balanced, and avoid loose fabric panels. Position the narrow side of the shelter toward the strongest wind when possible. If conditions become unsafe, lower or pack down open shade structures rather than forcing the setup to remain standing.

Keeping shelter gear ready for the next trip
Yes. Let fabric dry fully before long-term storage whenever possible. If you must pack wet at camp, unpack and dry the shelter as soon as you can after returning home.
Brush away loose dirt first, then spot clean with mild care and water as needed. Avoid harsh scrubbing, high heat, and aggressive chemicals that may stress coatings, seams, or fabric finish.
Store poles, frames, stakes, guylines, and repair pieces together in a dry, organized bag. Keeping small parts grouped with the shelter helps prevent missing hardware at camp.
Careful folding keeps fabric easier to repack, reduces unnecessary stress at repeated crease points, and helps you confirm that doors, panels, lines, and accessories are not trapped awkwardly before storage.
Not sure where to begin? Start with the shape of the trip.
A beach day, forest weekend, vehicle-based road trip, and multi-person campsite all need different shelter priorities. Think through the space you need to protect first, then choose the structure that fits that use.
