Care Instructions

Care Instructions

Keep shelter systems field ready.

Campora tents, canopies, ground sheets, frames, and shelter accessories are built for open-air use. A calm care routine helps preserve fabric performance, hardware integrity, packability, and setup confidence across changing seasons.

Clean Use mild soap, water, and a soft cloth.
Dry Air dry fully before packing.
Store Keep cool, dry, and loosely packed.

Care begins before the gear bag closes.

Moisture, grit, sap, salt air, and tension points can shorten the life of shelter equipment. A few deliberate minutes after every trip help protect seams, coatings, poles, stakes, and fabrics.

Field Logic

Clean gear packs smaller, sets faster, and lasts longer.

A shelter is more than fabric. It is a system of panels, seams, coated surfaces, poles, frames, guy lines, zippers, stakes, and ground protection. Care should be simple, but it should also be specific: remove abrasive grit, avoid trapped moisture, reduce coating stress, and store hardware in a way that prevents pressure damage.

Use these instructions as a practical after-trip ritual for camping tents, pop-up tents, canopy tents, rooftop tent accessories, SUV tailgate shelters, beach canopies, footprints, ground sheets, poles, and frames.

01 Shake out loose dirt before folding.
02 Spot clean instead of harsh washing.
03 Dry every panel, seam, and strap.
04 Store away from heat and direct sun.
After-Trip Routine

Four steps after the last stake is pulled.

Do not rush the pack-down when fabric is damp or sandy. The best routine is quiet and methodical: clear debris, clean lightly, dry completely, then store with tension released.

01

Remove field debris.

Shake fabric panels, sweep footprints, brush zippers, and clear dirt from pole sleeves, corner anchors, stake loops, and frame joints.

02

Spot clean with mild care.

Use cool water, mild soap, and a soft cloth. Avoid bleach, solvents, aggressive detergents, high heat, pressure washing, and machine drying.

03

Air dry every surface.

Open doors, vents, rainfly panels, and ground sheets until fully dry. Packing damp fabric can cause odor, staining, and coating stress.

04

Pack without compression stress.

Fold loosely, keep sharp hardware separated, and avoid storing heavy objects on top of poles, frames, canopies, or coated fabrics.

System Care

Protect the parts that protect the camp.

Each part of a shelter system faces different stress. Fabric needs gentle cleaning. Frames need dry joints. Ground sheets need grit removed before they are folded against coated surfaces.

Fabric / Rainfly / Canopy

Clean fabric without stripping performance.

  • Use a sponge or soft cloth with cool water and mild soap.
  • Rinse soap residue lightly and avoid soaking coated areas for long periods.
  • Never use bleach, fabric softener, dry cleaning, or abrasive brushes.
  • Keep fabric away from open flame, heaters, and prolonged direct heat.
Zippers / Lines / Seams

Keep movement smooth and tension balanced.

  • Brush sand or dirt from zipper tracks before closing.
  • Do not force a zipper under fabric tension; release pressure first.
  • Check guy lines for knots, frays, and trapped debris before storage.
  • Let seam areas dry fully before folding.
Poles / Frames / Stakes

Dry hardware before it returns to the bag.

  • Wipe pole sections, frame joints, stake heads, and sleeves after wet use.
  • Remove salt, sand, and mud from metal parts as soon as possible.
  • Store poles in their own sleeve to reduce puncture risk.
  • Do not pack bent stakes against tent fabric or ground sheets.

Clean By Material

Use light pressure, patient drying, and clean storage zones.

Care should never feel aggressive. For most shelter equipment, the safest method is a low-force approach: remove debris first, spot clean only where needed, rinse lightly, and let air do the final work.

Ground sheets Brush both sides before folding. Dry separately from tent body fabric whenever possible.
Beach canopies Shake out sand, rinse salt residue lightly, and dry metal components before storage.
Pop-up frames Collapse only when joints are clear. Never force a locked or sandy hinge.
Tent footprints Store flat or loosely folded after drying to reduce creases and trapped moisture.
Long-Term Storage

Dry, loose, cool, and off the floor.

For seasonal storage, avoid tight compression. A shelter packed under pressure for months can develop hard creases, coating stress, odor, and hardware imprint marks. Keep the bag in a dry indoor area with stable temperature and airflow.

Location Use a dry closet, gear shelf, or indoor storage area away from standing moisture.
Position Store bags horizontally or upright without heavy items crushing the fabric.
Hardware Keep stakes, poles, and frame parts in separate sleeves when possible.
Check-In Before the next trip, open the shelter and inspect seams, zippers, lines, and anchors.

72

Hour rule after wet trips.

If a tent, canopy, ground sheet, or rainfly must be packed damp for travel, reopen it within 72 hours or sooner. Dry it completely before final storage.

Care FAQ

Small habits, better seasons.

These answers cover the most common care questions for Campora shelter gear. For product-specific concerns, contact us and include your order details and photos when helpful.

Machine washing is not recommended. Agitation, heat, and detergents can stress coated fabrics, seams, and mesh panels. Use cool water, mild soap, and a soft cloth for spot cleaning instead.

Open the shelter fully, separate the rainfly and ground sheet, and air dry every surface before final packing. Pay extra attention to seam folds, webbing, corners, and storage sleeves.

Wipe hardware dry after use, remove sand or salt residue, and store sharp or heavy components separately from fabric. Do not force bent poles, locked hinges, or sandy frame joints.

Outdoor shelter gear is made for field use, but long, continuous exposure can age fabric coatings and color. When the trip ends, clean, dry, and store the shelter out of direct sunlight.

Contact us if you notice unusual seam separation, damaged frame sections, missing hardware, zipper issues, or care questions before storage. Campora orders typically ship in 3–5 business days.
